County of Mendocio Libraries to Close March 18 due to COVID-19

County of Mendocino Libraries to Close in Response to Public Health Concerns about COVID-19, posted 3/17/2020 at 6:07 PM

Effective Wednesday, March 18, 2020, all Mendocino County Libraries and Mobile Service will be closed to the public through April 6, 2020. This is in response to the growing public health concerns over COVID-19. Our first priority is always the safety and well-being of our volunteers, staff, and the public that utilize our wonderful libraries.  Board of Supervisors Chair John Haschak stated, “Our libraries are an important part of our community but the safety and well-being of all members of our community is our main concern, so to take care of all members we are choosing to close the libraries at this time”.

This decision was not made lightly. Based on numerous recommendations from our County Public Health experts, the County has decided all libraries and Bookmobile service will close. We will reevaluate in April and, based on guidance from Public Health and county administration, we will determine if we can reopen.

Book drops will be closed and locked. You are encouraged to keep your materials borrowed from the library until further notice. We will extend the due dates on all materials.

Mendocino County Library staff will be available during the day to answer questions via telephone during operating hours. We also have a vast amount of resources available online including downloadable materials.

Please follow us on social media (www.facebook.com/mendolibrary) and on our website (https://www.mendolibrary.org/home) for updates, resources to access and fun tips to stay positive as we work together as a community through this difficult time.
